Check out the Daily Show’s Irrationally Exuberant Tribute to Alan Greenspan. Hysterical.

Dems Set the Record Straight

Chatter over the coffee cups and water coolers last week was analysis of Conrad Burns' most recent offering - a sorry attempt to cast aspersions on Montana Democrats. Seems he's a bit upset that his part in the culture of corruption is getting out to Montanans, and is trying desperately to fling the stink of his association on anyone who will sit still.

Thankfully, Montana Democrats don't sit still.

We know this much about Tom Bunnell of Ollie North fame...

...he's smarter than Chuck Denowh and can damn sure give a better quote:

Chuck Denowh, executive director of the Montana Republican Party, watched the Helena rally from the side. He said it's disingenuous for Democrats to talk about cleaning up politics when two of the Democrats' own Senate candidates admitted to breaking the law earlier in the campaign when they used illegal, pre-recorded, machine-generated phone calls to contact prospective voters.
"They've got a severe ethics problem of their own," he said.

Stewart Slaps Burns

In case you missed the Daily Show last night, John Stewart took a swipe at Conrad Burns. Too classic.

Quote of the Week

"We're checking with their manager, but I don't think Bon Jovi playing 'Bad Medicine' in a conference room would go over very well, so no, we can't move the event."
- Baucus spokesman Barrett Kaiser

Mini Me’s spokesman resigns

Folks, the spokesman’s spokesman has resigned his post in Rep. Dennis Rehberg’s office.

Brad Keena, the fifty-something slickster who once worked for Rep. Steve Largent, yes the former NFL football player, and who had a penchant for pissing off reporters, announced today with much fan fare that he is leaving the Rehberg mega machine. (Side note: who pitches their own resignation letter?)

AP reported Keena as having said he’s leaving to "pursue serving a growing portfolio of clients in need of my communications expertise."

It’s that same “expertise” that landed Keena’s ass in hot water after he got caught peddling dirt on Conrad Burns, yes, and Max Baucus. It was this little 2003 doozy that landed Keena a seat on the bench, clearing the way for Mini Me to take the helm as de facto press secretary. more

….and Mr. Morrison

Jhensley does a good job of paying our respect to Mrs. Bohlinger (below). We also send our condolences out to the Morrison family.

Both Senator Baucus and Governor Schweitzer released statements on Mr. Morrison's passing. We share their sentiments. more

Montana Mourns Mrs. Bohlinger

Bette Bohlinger, wife and chief supporter of Lt. Governor John Bohlinger, passed away today at a Helena hospital, after battling acute leukemia.

For those who were lucky enough to have met Bette, you know already what a great loss this is. Bette was a remarkable woman, and I consider myself extremely fortunate to have known her.

The quality of Bette's character will be discussed at great length this week, her gracious gifts too numerous to mention. The AP is reporting that her funeral is tenatively set for Saturday, the 14th, in Billings.

Hey, isn't Conrad from Missouri?

I wonder how he feels about this...
